Law, justice, and human rights

John Carter

John Carter runs the gamut on edits and content creation here. Anything he drafts, researches, and edits must be clear, accurate, and usable for the general population. John has always been drawn to questions of law and justice – how systems work, where they fail, and how they can improve with a background in law and policy research. He studies topics from criminal justice reform to philosophy of law. He wishes to present harder concepts easiest for folks who care about fairness but do not have a legal background.

Amira Solano

Amira has herself graduated in the field of international relations and has worked for human rights organizations in several countries. Her works often focus on how global systems of law affect marginalized communities and what it means, in fact, to engender responsibility. Amira loves to connect the dots between actual-world implications and academic research so that something is actually grounded yet informed by a global outlook. Human rights, governance, social equity, and an array of issues are her natural focus. She and John are now charged with editorial direction for the site, reviewing research, and writing features.

Together, John and Amira aim to create a thoughtful, accessible space for readers who want to better understand law, justice, and the systems that hold power.
