Introducing Emília Lana de Freitas Castro

It is our great pleasure today to introduce our new IntLawGrrls contributor, Emília Lana de Freitas Castro. Emília is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Hamburg, Germany. (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Markus Kotzur). She is working on her thesis: The free movement of persons, the right of aliens to settlement and the free exercise of occupations in Brazil and Mercosur: European Union and Germany – possible legal and political framework for migration? Emília is a graduate of  Rio de Janeiro State University’s Law School (Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ) and she received her Master of Law in  International Law at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro State University). She is admitted to the Brazilian Bar Association and worked as a an Assistant Lecturer for Private International Law at UERJ as well.

Emília has experience working in gas and energy law, as a lawyer at the law office of Marilda Rosado Advogados Associados. She is the Co-Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law and a member of the Deutsch-Brasilianischen Juristenvereinigung. She previously was a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).

Her first post will survey the rights of foreigners in Brazil. Heartfelt welcome!
