Introducing Chiseche Mibenge

It’s our great pleasChiseche Mibenge coverure today to welcome Chiseche Mibenge as an IntLawGrrls contributor.  Chiseche is an Assistant Professor at Lehman College, a senior college of the City University of New York. She teaches international law and human rights. She defended her PhD at Utrecht University School of Law in the Netherlands, and obtained her Law degree (LLB) from the University of Zambia.

Chiseche has conducted field research in Rwanda and Sierra Leone, and has acted as an independent researcher for various organizations, including the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Gender Division) and Norwegian People’s Aid in Kigali. Her current research focuses on obscenity laws in southern Africa and their enforcement against women and gay men.

Chiseche’s introductory post today discusses her forthcoming book, Sex and International Tribunals: The Erasure of Gender from the War Narrative, which questions the gendered construction of victimhood by international criminal tribunals.  Heartfelt welcome!
